Whether we work in community mental health or in private practice, more and more clients in nontraditional relationships are crossing our paths. This training will help you begin to develop the knowledge you need to understand consensual nonmonogamy (CNM), including swinging, open relationships, polyamory, and relationship anarchy. Join MacKenzie Stuart, LMFT from Metaphor Therapy as she walks you through key concepts, clinical issues, case conceptualization, interventions, and tips for working with this diverse population.

Attendees will be able to:
Describe four common styles of CNM using accurate language, including using open-ended questions to explore personal meaning clients attribute to relationship structure
Identify two common clinical issues in CNM relationships, including using acceptance and commitment (ACT) techniques to identify relationship agreements aligned with client values
Describe at least one intervention from four different theoretical orientations appropriate for use in their work with CNM clients
